Airgas named preferred gas supplier

Author: Kate Russell

Effective October 8, 2012, Airgas, USA, LLC became the preferred supplier of bulk and cylinder gases for the campus replacing Praxair, Inc.  This decision was made in order to provide the very best customer service and meet the growing needs of our research and teaching community. The University will realize overall savings compared to current pricing, however pricing was not the driver in this decision.  We pride ourselves on excellence in teaching and research, and believe that Airgas is the best choice to provide the service and commitment that we require.

A transition team has been formed that will facilitate the switch from Praxair to Airgas. Specific communication to each department and building will be forthcoming to coordinate the transition.  Our goal is to have minimal disruption of teaching and research during this process. Airgas is committed to providing a smooth transition to the University.  They have orchestrated similar changeovers at other universities.  They have the experience and the understanding to do this well.

Please see the attached FAQ’s regarding ordering & delivery process from Airgas, handling current Praxair orders and cylinders and other details.  Please check the buy.nd.edu website for updates.

If you have any questions, you may contact Mike Rulli at 631-5095 or mrulli@nd.edu. Procurement Services will work closely with Airgas to answer any questions and provide the information you need regarding the University's gas supplier.
